Having Megan by my side was a godsend and kept me focused. Well, as focused as I could be, with the material of her skirt molded to her juicy ass. It took the mental jaws of life to pry my eyes away from her voluptuous body and concentrate on the work at hand. We had a slew of motions to file on behalf of my parents, her parents, and the other lawyers at the firm, and we had both jumped at the chance to be away from the prying eyes at the office.

“I can see you staring at my ass, Spencer,” Megan whispered under her breath. “Knock it off.”

“Sorry, Peaches. I can’t,” I replied. “All I can imagine is bending you over the courtroom divider.”

Making sure no one was near us, I saddled up to that hot ass and grabbed her waist in both hands, jerking her against me.

  “Spencer!” She cried out softly.

Dipping my nose into her hair, I took in her intoxicating scent and let it fill my entire being. I would never tire of her or her delicious smell. She was everything I could have ever hoped for. Sexy, sweet, and amazing, both in and out of my bed. I was a goner.

“What’s wrong, Peaches?” I asked, pushing her hair away from her neck and planting chaste kisses on her neck, “Having a hard time concentrating?

It was a rhetorical question. I already knew the answer. Leaning over her shoulder, I could see the rise and fall of her perfect breasts through the top, undone, button of her blouse. Her skin was instantly warmer, and her heart rate was elevated, pounding against the beautiful throat I was kissing.

I wouldn’t do anything more than make her a little hot and heavy. I knew that, at any moment, someone could walk into the conference room we were using, and I didn’t want to embarrass her, or worse, get thrown in lock up for public indecency, but that didn’t mean I couldn’t play the tease for a little while longer.

“Are you wet for me, Peaches?” I whispered in her ear.

“Yes,” she whispered back, tilting her head back against my shoulder and closing her eyes.

“I want to taste you,” my hips ground against her covered ass, my lips stealing kisses on every inch of available flesh.

  “Oh, God, Yes, Spencer.”

I knew I needed to stop this, I didn’t think Megan was into voyeurism, and frankly, neither was I. When I made love to this gorgeous girl, it was going to be for my eyes only. Luckily, I didn’t have to stop it. Some one else came in and did it for me.

“I object! HA! I’ve always wanted to say that,” Joe’s voice came from the doorway.

Megan stiffened in my arms, but I kept my hands on her waist. She was not going to run away from a little fun, and she was also covering my inappropriate erection.

“You guys looks like you’re having a little too much fun for this particular building,” Kyle’s voice laughed from behind Joe’s.

“What are you guys doing here?” Megan asked, her hands coming up to her hair to smooth it down.

“I’m taking you to lunch,” Joe responded, “And these two crazies? I ain’t got no idea what they are doing. This one won’t tell me,” she said, pointing her finger at Kyle.

“Its none of your business, woman,” Kyle laughed, grabbing Joe’s finger, a twinkle in his eye.

Turning around in my arms, Megan wrapped herself around me. “What are you boys off to?”

I couldn’t help it, leaning down a placed a kiss on the tip of her nose. “It’s none of your business, woman,” I repeated Kyle’s line.

Even in heels, Megan was still quite a few inches shorter than I was, but that didn’t stop her from standing on her tiptoes, to return the favor on my own nose.

“I love you,” she said, making my heart stop for a few precious moments in my chest.

“I love you too,” I replied, turning her around in my arms, and swatting her perfect ass. “Now go get some food. We both have the remainder of the day off, so I’ll see you after dance.”

“You bet your sweet ass, you will,” she laughed.

“Not as sweet as yours,” I mumbled to myself as I watched her shake it out of the conference room.

“You got it bad, friend,” Kyle came over, slapping my shoulder.

  “You’ve got no fucking idea.”

“I love your fucking car, man,” Kyle said for the upteenth time since I had gotten it. “You’re gonna have to let me borrow it to take out Joe one day.”

“Not on your life, buddy,” I snorted. No one was allowed to drive my car, except for maybe Megan.

Coming home from Europe, stressed and frazzled, I had spent a small chunk of my savings on the fire engine red Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder. I didn’t take it out as often as I would like, preferring to drive my Range Rover on work days, but today was different, today was special. Next to Megan, it was something I loved dearly, and no one was putting their hands on it.

“So, what’s up with Joe?” I asked Kyle, knowing he needed to get something off of his chest, but didn’t know where to start. It was obvious he was completely infatuated with her, but were the feelings mutual, or was she just in it for a good time?

“I have no bloody idea. She’s hot and cold, and I can’t seem to figure out what this is between us,” he said, running his fingers through his hair.

“How so?” I asked, switching gears, hitting almost eighty on my dash.

“We had a blast over Fourth of July. I didn’t think it was even possible to have so much sex, yeah yeah, I know, sorry, mate,” he laughed when I held up my hands at that particular sentence. “But, when we got home, I dropped her off and she just walked in the house like we hadn’t spent every waking second together. Not even a goodbye kiss.”

“Think it has anything to do with the kid?” I asked?

“I don’t know, man. I guess,” he shrugged.

“Do you like her, Kyle?” I asked, needing to know where he stood with my girl’s best friend.

  “Yeah.”

  “How?”

“How what?” he said, turning in his seat to face me.

“How do you like her? Is she just a fling, or is there something more?”

“Hell no, she’s not just a fling. Granted, she’s the best woman I’ve ever been with, but no, I fucking dig her, Spence. She’s funny, and she’s bright, and she loves that son of hers like no other. People don’t seem to see what an absolute treasure she is, only seeing the ghetto girl from Atlanta, and it breaks my fucking heart, man.”

“Sounds like I’m not the only one who’s got it bad, huh?” I laughed, turning on my blinker to exit the freeway.

“Where are we going, by the way?” Kyle asked, looking back out the window.

“Oh, you’ll see, my friend. You’ll see.”

Ten minutes later, we pulled up in front of a residential stretch of road, and parked on the street. I didn’t really want to leave my car up against the curb, but the street seemed to be pretty quiet for the most part, something I was definitely looking for.

A woman in her late forties, it looked like, sporting bright red lipstick and matching heels, stepped up to the car as I shut the door.

“Spencer Grant?” she asked, extending her hand for me to shake. “I’m Jackie Humphreys, we spoke on the phone?”

“That’s me, and this is Kyle Perkins, my best friend,” I offered, shaking the woman’s hand.

“It’s very nice to meet you, gentlemen, and I’m so glad you called, Mr. Grant. This one just came up on the market, and I don’t think it’s going to last very long,” she said, taking her hand away and motioning towards the townhome we stood in front of.

“You’re buying a house?” Kyle asked, his jaw dropping to the curb.

“That was the plan, Kyle. I don’t relish living in my parents pool house forever.”

“What about Megan?” he asked, when I joined him up on the curb.

  “It will be ours.”

Whistling aloud, Kyle flattened his palm and put it over his eyes, to cover them from the sun, as he took in the house in front of us.

  “
Built in the sixties, this townhouse is in one of the best areas in all of Atlanta. With just over two thousand square feet of living area, this would make a great starter home. It has four bedrooms and three and a half baths, along with an open floor plan on the first floor.”

Jackie continued talking about the features, but I wasn’t paying any attention. All of the details, I had already read that very morning. Instead, I focused on the porch, where the silhouette of Megan was. The illusion was so strong, it made my breath hitch. Hanging from the second floor awning, a white bench swing swayed in the breeze, while my hallucinated girlfriend clasped one hand onto the metal chain, holding the swing up. Her hair flowed beautifully around her in the breeze and she looked out onto the street, sipping her tea with her other hand. Setting her mug down, I watched as my figment caressed her swollen belly and giggled when something kicked at her hand.

“He’s kicking,” I saw her mouth, before an apparition of me came walking out the front door to join Megan on the swing, my hand resting over hers on her stomach.

“Would you like to see the inside?” Jackie’s words careened into my imagination.

“Yes, please,” I stuttered, the magic of the moment broken, but the memory replaying itself instantly in my head.

  “Follow me, please,” she instructed.

“What the hell happened to you?” Kyle asked as we followed behind Jackie up the stairs to the front door.

  “What do you mean?

“I don’t know. Your eyes went glossy and you spaced out while your realtor was talking to you.”

“Just picturing myself here is all,” I replied. No one would hear of my little visage. That would be for my eyes only.

As soon as the doors opened, I knew, immediately, I was buying this house. Wood floors greeted our entry and spread through the entire first floor. Just as Jackie has said, the room was completely open, with only a few structural beams to be seen blocking the space. The area was sectioned off naturally, the kitchen to the back right, a giant cutting board style island taking up a good chunk of the space, surrounded by up-to-date steel appliances. To our back left was a brick wall with a built in gas fireplace. My imagination tried to conjure more images of Megan and I on a rug in front of that very fireplace, but I pushed it down. This was not the time for another hard on.

To our immediate right was a set of stairs leading up to the second floor.

“Go ahead and take your time exploring, gentlemen. I have a few calls to make. I’ll be right outside on the porch, should you have any questions.”

  “Thanks, Ms. Humphreys,” I said.

“Call me Jackie,” she smiled, her warmth penetrating through.

  “Thanks, Jackie.”

When the door closed behind her, I looked at Kyle.

“What do you think?” I asked.

“What do I think? Are you fucking nuts, man? This place is awesome.”

I agreed, and I hadn’t even seen the rest of it. Taking my time, I walked around the bottom floor, admiring the charm and character that came from a house like this. The beams keeping the house standing were made of solid wood, matching the floors perfectly, and upon closer inspection, I could see hash marks carved into it where someone had been measuring a child’s growth.

“It’ll be expensive to repair that or replace the beam,” Kyle pointed out.

“I’m not repairing that. It gives the house character, Kyle. Maybe one day, I can add to it.”

His eyes bugged out at my declaration. “You’re serious?” he asked.

“Like a heart attack, buddy. Megan is mine forever, and she’s gonna be my wife.”

“Well, shit, man,” he exclaimed, a smile over taking his features.

  “I know,” I responded.

“Well, let’s go find your bedroom. You’re gonna need to know where that is!”

I laughed. He was right. The bedroom was very important.

Climbing up the stairs, I took in everything else around me, from the chandelier above my head, to the obvious places on the wall where photo frames had been hung. I idly wondered how many children had played in these halls, and on these stairs, and hoped Megan and I could add to that number.

The master bedroom was obvious, and gorgeous. Taking up a large portion of the second floor, the room itself could hold a king size bed easily. A large window took up almost the entirety of one wall, letting in the Atlanta sun. The master bath attached was also large, boasting a shower that could easily fit three or four adults comfortably. My dick twitched at the ideas running through my head.

The second floor had an additional bedroom and separate bathroom, with the third floor hosting the third and fourth rooms and another bath. The house was stunning, and I knew it would be ours. I only hoped my little secret investment would make Megan happy.

“What do you think, man?” Kyle asked standing at the island on the bottom floor.

“I think this is going to be where I marry my girl and raise our children,” I said honestly.

“Wow, I’ve never seen you like this, apart from Chlo--”

“DON’T bring her up, Kyle,” I shouted, cutting him off.

With his hands in the air in mock defeat, he took a step back.

“I’m sorry, Kyle. That whole situation has my nerves on end, and I don’t want to think about it. Not today.”

“What does Megan think about all of that?” Kyle asked, placing his hands back on the island counter top.

“She doesn’t really know too much, honestly. Only that I took Chloe’s virginity and we had dated.”

When he didn’t respond, I looked up at him.

  “What?”

“She doesn’t know the whole story, Spencer?” He asked, his tone disbelieving.

“No, I didn’t want to put her through that,” I countered.

“Don’t you think she has a right to know?”

“I will tell her, just not yet. Besides, it’s over and done with. Why dredge up the past?”

“Why dredge up--? Seriously, Spencer. I know you’re not this much of a wanker. Don’t you think she’s gonna find out about the lawsuit? And with everything that happened with Chase, she needs to hear it from you, and not someone else,” he yelled, his voice getting progressively louder.

“I know man, I do,” my head fell into my hands.

“Fucking tell her, Spencer. Tell her before someone else does.”

“I will, Kyle. I hope she can understand.”

Softening his tone, Kyle clapped me on the back, “She loves you. She’ll understand.”

“So gentlemen, what do we think?” Jackie’s voice called from the front door.

This house was already mine. I could feel it in my bones.

Plucking the words right from my mouth, making Jackie smile, Kyle grabbed my hand and held it up to his chest. “We love it! Where do we sign?”

  Chapter Seventeen

  Megan

The way the music moved through my body was like therapy. Work had kept me tense, though having Spencer around helped release much of it. My mom and I weren’t on speaking terms. I had lunch with my dad, though, the day before. He and mom weren’t talking either. I was glad I wasn’t under her roof anymore, under her constant berating and bitching.

Having so much freedom was strange; I never expected my summer to turn out how it did. Falling in love was the last item on my list. Hell, it wasn’t even on my list. The way Spencer made me feel was unexplainable and not something I’d be willing to let go.

Moving into a turn, I could almost feel his body on mine. The way he’d pressed himself to me at the courthouse. I couldn’t get home fast enough. I needed to tackle my man the moment I got into the pool house. I had to admit, being in the pool house was strange when Heather and Steve were in the main house. Though, until Spencer and I could move out, it was where we’d be. Or until I went back to school, but I didn’t want to think about that yet.

Last beat of the song, I dropped into the splits, my heart pounding and
full of exhilaration. That was my best run through yet. I felt the energy of the song still pulsating through my veins as I stood.

“Let’s take a breather,” I announced to my students before I sauntered over to where my things sat, picking up my water bottle and taking a gulp of the cool liquid.

I spotted Joe coming in my direction. We had a fun girls afternoon, going to lunch and getting mani pedis. Something had been bothering her, I could tell. Even at lunch, she seemed quiet and off. Anyone who knew Joe like I did, knew she wasn’t quiet like that often.

“Everyone gather round!” Joe called to the students who came in our direction, chatting with one another excitedly. “Quiet down, shhh. Great practice today. We only have about a month and a bit before the big fundraiser. Remember to practice when you can. We’ll see you next week.”

All the girls cheered at finishing. Once we said our goodbyes to the students, I grabbed my bag and threw it other my shoulder. Joe stood with her phone, the look on her face said it all, a big smile.

“You got a text from Kyle, didn’t you?” I asked as I approached my best friend.

“I did. He wants to meet up tomorrow. Mom is keeping Khe already, so it works. He’s a great guy, Moe. He’s nothing like guys I’ve been with before, but I don’t know. Yeah, the sex over the fourth weekend was out of this world, but I’m scared as hell,” she explained. I put my hands on my hips.

  “What are you scared of?”

“Getting hurt, maybe. Khe getting hurt. I don’t date much, you know that. I don’t want to bring someone around a lot and then have them disappear on me and Khe, like his deadbeat dad did.” She gave me a shrug.

“I’m going to give you some advice from a wise girl I know. She always told me to go for it, live my own truth, and love who I want to love despite challenges. I think that girl is pretty smart and I call her my best friend.” I looked at Joe, the same person who’d told me those same things over and over again through the years. Took me long enough to follow her advice.
